Florentina Holzinger
Mond

Jury Statement:
Her ability to unite contradictions within herself – to question everything around her with her mere presence – makes Florentina Holzinger a true artistic exception. This has been evident throughout her impressive biography, which spans all genres, from performance and theater to opera. Now, she has made her mark in film with Kurdwin Ayub’s Mond: The introverted aura and the vulnerable resilience with which she portrays the fighter Sarah, along with her remarkable ability to not speak or act, yet still allow us to connect with her inner life, make Florentina Holzinger a remarkable protagonist for cinema.

Marie-Luise Stockinger
Gina

Jury Statement:
Without illusions, unvarnished, and entirely unsentimental, Marie-Luise Stockinger embodies Gitte, the overwhelmed young mother pregnant with her fourth child, who is at risk of sinking under the weight of alcohol addiction and the remnants of lost joy. Her brutally honest portrayal of this struggling young woman won us over and transforms Ulrike Kofler’s raw, everyday story into a poignant film about life and hardship in the midst of our society.
Marie-Luise Stockinger’s courage and authenticity lend dignity and hope to her difficult, failing character.
