As a child murderer stalks Berlin, spreading fear and panic, the police search feverishly for the perpetrator disrupting the organized criminal underworld. As a consequence, the criminal gangs decide to join in the hunt and find the killer themselves. Peter Lorre’s portrayal of the murderer in M brought him worldwide fame. One legendary scene is the closing speech delivered before a court of the criminal underworld, a monologue poised between desperation and madness.
