Congo Mirador was once a prosperous fishing town, built on stilts on Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela’s largest oil field. But the village is sinking in polluted waters, corruption, and political violence and people are leaving. It is a portrait of a small village, a reflection of contemporary Venezuela, and a dark prophecy showing us where things end if we fail to stand up against the corrosive forces of populism: in dictatorship and total destruction.
