Gabriel Tempea discovers a travel report on Bucharest from 1966 that is critical of the government, which inspires him to comb through old holiday films shot by anonymous foreign tourists in Romania: sights, landscapes, villages, people. Everyday life during the Ceaușescu dictatorship sneaks in only at the “edges” of the images. Holiday moments with a foul aftertaste—as refreshing as a stale beer on the beach.
