Upper Austria, 1750. The newlywed Agnes (Anja Plaschg) is not able to find any peace in the strange surroundings of her husband and mother-in-law. On the contrary she experiences only rejection and exclusion in the strict rural world. The religious and sensitive young woman increasingly withdraws until an act of violence seems the only way out.
