In his film created at the Vienna Film Academy, Awad El Kish portrays an Austrian farmer living on his farm who lost his eyesight early in life and has since lived on the edge of a society that sees him as an annoyance. Here, the “foreign” filmmaker, who sees in place of the blind man, directs the gaze back at the “guest land.” And reveals that in Austria, you don’t have to be a foreigner to be treated as such.
