The last Cimbri live in Giazza, a village of 250 people north of Verona. The ethnic group, which formed over the course of centuries from immigrants from Ötztal, Vorarlberg, and Eastern Switzerland, had their own language, Cimbrian. Today, only the older people still speak tautsche Gareida. “That’s life,” they say and humbly go their way. An ethnographic study shot in black-and-white—a film of forgotten beauty.
