Twelve-year-old Veysel is a stranger in a foreign land. His daily life is fraught with non-communication: At school he can’t find the German words to express himself, and his home life is plagued by arguments and the fear of deportation. Fleeting moments of happiness come only in the form of his fantasies that transport him to Ana’s side. One day, Veysel meets a much older neighbor, a cocky character who’s been jilted. Translating a poem together, they become friends. A film that strikes a delicate balance between daily life and the constraints of integration.
