Supercargo shows Peter Moosgaard’s attempt to transfer a ritual practice of colonized indigenous societies to Western art. The phenomenon of “Cargo cult” involves reconstructing technical devices using extremely simple means. Based on this principle, Moosgaard duplicates artworks and technical consumer goods using natural raw materials — with success. The “deception” is celebrated. A self-mocking philosophical discourse about fakeness and originality in the culture industry.
