Resi, an 18-year-old blind pianist is seen as a wunderkind in fine Viennese society between Rococo and the Enlightenment. At the age of three, she suddenly lost her eyesight. When the doctor and magnetist Franz Anton Mesmer begins to treat the artist with his novel methods, she seems to gradually regain her vision. But as her ability to see increases, her virtuosity diminishes—a fact that plunges the musician and her family into a serious crisis.
