Martha and Alex in a red Volvo, on the road, heading toward nowhere in particular, and at the same time, imprisoned in their self-preoccupation. At one point, so much so that they run over a dog. Its dog tag now accompanies the two on their journey, hanging from the rearview mirror, as does the dog’s owner, who now follows them from a safe distance. Until they meet him in the end, they drive on, aimlessly, without landmarks, but with encounters with people, states of intoxication, quarrels, and reconciliations.
