In the short film Flora, one of her first works, Jessica Hausner addresses becoming an adult. In her feature film debut Lovely Rita, the filmmaker again takes up the coming-of-age theme and with her story of a pubescent girl who overtaxes everyone with her sexuality, exposes the commonplace lack of true relationships. The film is the first production by coop99, which Hausner co-founded in 1999 with Barbara Albert, Antonin Svoboda, and Martin Gschlacht.
