Mickey Mouse in Vietnam
Animation, US 1968, DCP, 2 min, kein DialogProgram: POSITION Lisl Ponger Carte Blanche
Mickey Mouse in Vietnam is one of the best-known animated anti-war films. Director Lee Savage and animator Milton Glaser sent the world’s most famous mouse to the Vietnamese jungle in 1968. Before Mickey is recruited, a sign catches his eye: “Join the army and see the world.” A few moments later he has landed in Vietnam where after just a few steps, a bullet pierces his helmet. A bitter satire about patriotism and propaganda.
