Judith Zdesar accompanies volunteer firefighters in their everyday routines. With a focus on emotional challenges rather than on the spectacle, the portrait of the institution develops into a study of how people deal with crisis situations: it is impossible to predict when, where, and how the next catastrophe will occur. That it will happen, is certain.
