A short film walk by Street Cinema Graz

“Back to the Roots” is the motto of this year’s Diagonale, when Street Cinema Graz returns to the district where the first short film walk took place in 2013 on occasion of the Lendwirbel. With its special mix of history, gastronomic and cultural offerings and hustle and bustle, the Lend is worth (re)discovering and invites you to transform facades, walls and other urban structures into temporary cinema screens.

The meeting point for this year’s walk is in front of the Lendhotel, not far from Lendplatz. This starting point will take us to the first wall. Stop by stop, we will move forward with mobile cinema equipment, discover new, previously hidden and surprising things and turn the district into a jointly created space of cinema that connects the viewers of this unique event.

Street Cinema Graz was founded in 2013 and takes the short films of young Austrian and international filmmakers to urban spaces. Equipped with a projector, speakers and laptop, Street Cinema Graz’s wanderings take you to places that elude the paths of everyday life or encourage you to look at familiar places with new eyes. Gray walls are filled with vivid scenes of light and shadow. Here we follow the films and leave new traces. Finally, the communicative aspect is also at the center when the visitors get into conversation with each other along the way and people who live around these various locations are also invited to join in. Together, they become protagonists of this unique event.
